The Rooftop at the One and Only Royal Mirage

I started my blog after the trip to Kenya. I haven’t really got a chance to travel after that, given my work schedule and the UAE Government’s rule on 22 working days of allowed annual leave! I am always short on leave so there is absolutely no use cribbing about it!

Coming back to blogging, if I don’t blog about travel, I can  blog about food:D:D. Apart from my love of food, I go out often enough to blog about one  restaurant/bar a month! So here it is…………

Valentine’s day this year took us to the Rooftop Terrace at the One and Only Royal Mirage at Al Soufouh Road in Dubai. This resort overlooks the palm and is a delight! The premises are divided into  the Arabian Courtyard, the Residence and Spa and the Palace.

The short drive towards the Arabian Courtyard where the Rooftop is located was a pleasure. The hotel was not overtly decked up for Valentines! A few inconspicuous details were enough to charm an individual. The  elevator dropped us right outside the bar and it was delightful. A decently sized terrace with Arabic seating plus barstools overlooking the Palm gave it an old world feeling. Tables of mosaic tiles, dim lighting and the mandatory rose for the ladies did the trick! Though it was a little cold as the heater next to us was not lit, a jacket and a few drinks did the trick!

Cocktails are decently priced at AED 47 inclusive of taxes. But please do not go here if you are looking for food. The finger food menu (that is all they have) consists of four items- an Arabic hot mezze, an Arabic cold mezze, an Indian platter and an Arabic dessert platter for AED 75 each.

Living on fatayer(Arabic starters)  for lunch throughout the week, made the decision easy and we opted for the Indian platter which came with 3 prawns, 4 pieces of chicken, their version of the pani puri as per our server (there was no pani – water in the crisp sphere), and four pieces of amazingly great potato coated with  indian sev!

All in all, this is a nice cozy bar. Come here with great company for the drinks and the view! Maybe head to Ninas’ for dinner later! You will not be disappointed!!
