After Mount Nebo we began our journey to Petra– situated in the Wadi Musa district… We took the longer route and it was a joy to drive– I even managed to type out an entire WP post on my blackberry.
The view on the drive down from Nebo toward the Dead Sea…….. was simply breathtaking.
We picked up sandwiches at a place called ‘chilli ways’, passed the Holiday Inn dead sea- where we would spend the last leg of our trip- 2 nights… and sped down the road- with the dead sea on our right!
As we sped- a traffic cop stopped us- having caught us on his speed gun:( How upsetting- The cops were good fun once they realised we were from Dubai- one of them (who didn’t speak any English) was a cop in Dubai for a while and went back to Jordan after the death of the Late Sheikh. They apologised for having caught us speeding- from more than a kilometre away- (even Dubai doesn’t do that- catch people from more than a km away!!!).
We then continued on our way- making sure to stay within the speed limit…. A few pictures we took:
The journey seemed never ending and we made a number of stops! Even if only to click pictures…
It was so hot- that we were relieved when dusk began to set in…
After a long search and various wrong turns and treacherous roads- we finally reached Wadi Musa, and found our hotel nestled behind the Move n Pick and a short walk from Petra .
