The Roxbury Motel!

On reaching the town of Roxbury, locating the motel was a cake walk (the motel provides most of the business in this town). Set up by two enterprising gentlemen, this property is unique; not one room is similar to another- they are all individually decorated. The motel comprises of two buildings built across from each other- the North and the South. One has been built from scratch while the other was totally redone to have the Roxbury we have today. The front desk located in the building we were to be housed in, is warm and hospitable, with breakfast being served in the same venue.

The first picture is that of the open air campfire that was lit in the morning. Just off the breakfast room- it was lovely to sit by it warming my hands while sipping on hot chocolate (which btw was made available at all times in the breakfast room).
The butterfly sink that you see is the bathroom in the reception- very tastefully done. I read about it and asked to see it! Heck wouldn’t we all love to have one like that at home?

The door you see- which looks like an entrance to the cave is basically the door to the back office. The view is from the terrace where the campfire is set. They provide you with luxury amenities from ‘Lather” and soaps from a local soapmaker the Locust Grove co. which are also on sale at the motel.

We opted for a simple room which was big enough for the two of us. You have to note the attention to detail that has been paid to each item/object in the room.

They even offered a tour of all the rooms at 11:00 am on Sunday (I don’t know if they do this every Sunday, but when I asked the front desk whether we could view rooms, she mentioned day that there was a full tour the next day)! Before you go ahead and view more pictures- I have to say- the rooms are much much better than the pictures.

I asked to see the ‘Genie in the Bottle’ room but guests hadn’t checked out yet. After we were done with the Digs, the lady showing us around was notified that the room was now vacant- and voila- I got to see the room! Impressive!

Before I sign off I must make a note of their customer service. The owners take pride in their staff and the manner in which staff present themselves to guests. One of the members of staff was chatting with me- she mentioned that this was a side job for most of them. They(the staff) are treated so well and with a lot of respect- that they never want to leave. She works in the town school other days of the week and works weekends here. To hear this from an employee is unusual and only increases my love and respect for this beautifully run property.

All in all- if you go to Roxbury, GO FOR THE MOTEL- AND FEEL FREE TO HAVE HIGH EXPECTATIONS- YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

  1. Wow, is one of those rooms a Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit theme? That small round door looks straight out of Middle Earth…
